Drive vs. street

Thornton Drive has been Thornton Drive in East Haven since the Stone Age. The street sign reads Thornton Dr.
Why is it always coming thru as STREET. Hasn't anyone else complained yet?
It always pops up in computers as street and New Haven.
I live on THORNTON DRIVE, EAST HAVEN,CT.
NOT Thornton St.,New Haven,Ct.
