Hartford, Conn. – (April 23, 2012) The third annual Connecticut Private School Summit will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT from 8:30 am to 3 pm.
The event, planned jointly by the Directors of Curriculum of the three Connecticut dioceses as well as the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools, will provide an opportunity for hundreds of principals and teachers from all of the state’s private elementary, middle, and secondary schools to acquire exceptional “train the trainer” professional development.
will be sending two of their teachers, who will in turn teach the rest of the staff.
Nationally known presenters will participate in the Summit focusing on instructional and assessment strategies that will positively impact teaching and learning.
Keynote speaker and session facilitator Ian Jukes will address the need to restructure our educational paradigms so that our students’ needs are fully met and they are properly prepared for their future, not our past. Jukes is the Director of an international consulting group that provides leadership and program development in a variety of educational areas, a noted author of numerous books, educational series and journals, as well as a publisher of an online electronic newsletter.
Also on the Summit faculty roster are members of the Leadership and Learning Team comprised of the following well respected educational professionals: Tony Flatch, expert in the use of data to support instruction and the design of rigorous standards-based assessments; Dr. Connie Kamm who specializes in school reform and building positive school cultures; and Dr. Cathy Lassiter an authority in accountability planning, data-driven decision making, and leadership development.
Rounding out the instructional faculty are Dr. Marcia Imbeau from the University of Arkansas, a UCONN graduate and member of the National Association for Gifted Children and the Council of Exceptional Children, who provides support to schools striving to meet their students’ academically diverse learning needs; and Educational Consultant Carol Scearce, a nationally renowned expert in adolescent literacy who will share effective strategies to engage adolescent learners.
