$2 Million Powerball Ticket Sold Sept. 5 in Connecticut

There were no jackpot winners for the Wednesday Powerball® drawing, but one incredibly lucky person who purchased a Powerball with Power Play® ticket in Connecticut is now $2,000,000 richer this morning.

The winning Powerball numbers drawn on September 5 were 4 - 19 - 26 - 42 - 51.  CT’s winning ticket holder matched the first five numbers, but missed the Powerball number, 29.  Normally a $1,000,000 prize, the player, who added the Power Play feature to their ticket for an extra $1, automatically doubled their prize for a cool $2,000,000—the first winner in Connecticut to do so.

In total, 8,497 winning Powerball tickets were sold statewide for that date, with prizes ranging from $4 to $2,000,000.

The multi-million dollar winner has yet to step forward to claim their prize.  CT Lottery officials are urging players to check their tickets.

Powerball is drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59pm and is offered at more than 2,700 lottery locations statewide.

The overall odds of winning a Powerball prize are 1 in 31.8 based on a $2.00 play.  Odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 175,223,510 million.

The CT Lottery reminds the public that purchasers must be 18 or older, and to please play responsibly.  For more information about CT’s lottery games, visit ctlottery.org or call (860) 713-2700.
