Christopher Shays on Friday's Jobs Report

Christopher Shays on May Jobs Report

Stratford - Today Christopher Shays, Republican candidate for United States Senate, issued this statement on the May jobs report.

"Today's discouraging jobs report is proof this country needs a sound economic plan.  Although total employment rose, weekly earnings fell, meaning the few jobs created are low-paying jobs.

The numbers reflect the fact that the Obama Administration's misguided economic policy is discouraging capital investment, which is what creates both employment growth and income growth.

Yesterday's revision in first quarter GDP growth from 2.2% down to 1.9% cannot be overlooked. The economy is slowing down, so job growth and income growth are slowing down.  There is no way out of this without much, much faster GDP growth.

We can do better.  My plan to restore the promise of America is about encouraging capital investment, and would turn this economy around if enacted.  It would create full employment, better jobs, rising incomes, and 4% sustained economic growth.
