East Haven's Ralph Mauro Innocent Of All Charges

Mr. Mauro says "the charges, some of which are felonies, were dismissed, because I did absolutely nothing wrong."

Attorney Lou Crisci (Republican Town Committee Chairman) and blogger Dan McCann have acted as judge, jury and executer for the past year of Assistant Director of Town Affairs Ralph Mauro’s faulty arrest on May 17, 2010.

All charges were dismissed on Friday, July 22.

Prosecutors agreed to drop all firearms charges, citing Ralph Mauro’s spotless record, and a Superior Court Judge granted a defense motion to dismiss the charges immediately.

Attorney Crisci condemned Mr. Mauro before due process, calling along with McCann, for Mayor Capone to immediately fire Mr. Mauro upon his arrest, saying if a judge granted a warrant then he must be guilty.

I can understand McCann making his comments to embarrass the Mayor of East Haven, but Attorney Crisci should know better since he took an oath that all people are innocent until proven guilty.

This was a political move against Mr. Mauro and Mayor Capone from the beginning by both men and the leadership of the Republican Party.

The reasons were plain to everyone who knows Mr. Mauro, for he is the hardest worker you can meet. His knowledge of both finances and construction have made him a vital person in the Capone Administration and the Republicans know this and have been after Mr. Mauro since he started in his position in the Mayor’s office.

These comments about Mr. Mauro, made by these people, are a reflection of all the remarks this town has been subjected to over the last year. We will continue to hear statements by these same people for the next three months leading up to the election, and they too will prove to be untruths.

Congratulations Mr. Mauro, the court system has proved the Branford Police Department, Attorney Crisci, and Dan McCann are all peas in the same pod and all were wrong.

Mayor April showed her courage and faith in you. She proved once again to have what it takes to be a great leader. She never once even flinched on these false charges.

East Haven citizens are happy to have both of you working for their interests.
