Office Hours: Come Meet East Haven Patch!

We hold "office hours" this morning at the Twin Pines Diner from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. TGIF!

Whether you’re a resident, business owner, a nonprofit employee or a town official, East Haven Patch was created as a platform where you can connect with your community. The site exists for you, and because of you.

And while Patch is a daily destination for many, there are still some folks in East Haven who don’t know about us. Even some of our most loyal followers may not be aware of all the site has to offer.

Every Friday Morning

And so, this morning, we hold office hours from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Twin Pines Diner, 34 Main Street in East Haven, where you can come meet and talk with the staff of East Haven Patch.

If, however, you feel that there is a better day, place or time to hold office hours, please let us now in the comments or send an email to julie.weisberg@patch.com.

User Tips

At our "office hours" this morning — aside from getting a cup of coffee and sharing some conversation — you can learn:

  • How to post events like fundraisers, concerts, wine tastings and tag sales.
  • Post announcements like Letters to the Editor, a new business opening, a new staff member, if your child makes honor roll, or if there’s a birth or death in your family.
  • Rate and review local businesses, from car dealers to restaurants and doctors.
  • Find out about how to join our Local Voices section.

Meet the Staff

You’ll also have an opportunity to meet and speak with East Haven Patch Editor Julie Weisberg, as well as Associate Regional Editor Anthony Karge and Regional Editor Gary Jeanfaivre.

    Join the Conversation

The best way we can serve you is for you to join the conversation. So come swing by and say "Hi!" — and learn how to get started. We look forward to meeting you!

Having left town after high school for NYC several years ago, I proudly rely on East Haven Patch for unbiased and up-to-the-minute reporting on the happenings around my hometown. Julie, thank you for your conscious effort to provide the community with quality, relevant content.

To those in our community who unsure as to what to expect from a quality journalist, I encourage you to seek out a copy of The Elements of Journalism, a book by Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel. In order for a journalist to fulfill their duty of providing the people with the information, they need to be free and self-governing. They must follow these 9 guidelines:
1.Journalism's first obligation is to tell the truth.
2.Its first loyalty is to the citizens.
3.Its essence is discipline of verification.
4.Its practitioners must maintain an independence from those they cover.
5.It must serve as an independent monitor of power.
6.It must provide a forum for public criticism and compromise.
7.It must strive to make the news significant, interesting, and relevant.
8.It must keep the news comprehensive and proportional.
9.Its practitioners must be allowed to exercise their personal conscience.

East Haven Patch, you are to be commended for fulfilling and upholding these principles, and for being a powerful and fair voice for the community.

    Will,
I wish you would send that to the New Haven Register...I doubt that they are aware
of those 9 guidelines! And yes, I agree that the Patch is to be commended and Julie
does a great job of upholding those principles.

Agree, Julie is the first editor this site has had, that has been fair and responsive.
She deserves all the accolades she gets.

Everyone: Thank you all for your comments, both positive and negative, both are equally important as far as feedback and continuing to improve how we serve readers' needs — as well as those of the community as a whole. I looking forward to meeting some of you soon, and if not at tomorrow's office hours — sometime in the near future! And if you can't make it tomorrow, feel free to send me an email or just give me a call if you have a question, concern or a suggestion. Like I always say: I'm all ears!

I really like the EastHavenPatch. It's a daily, sometimes more, read for me. I can find out what's going on quicker than the free weekly paper, which isn't "news" anymore.

I wish I'd known about Office Hours sooner because I had already scheduled a meeting for that time slot. I will attend next week. I think Office Hours is a great idea.
